The crop protection market in Ukraine: will prices change and how will global trends affect it

What trends and forecasts do you see for 2026 regarding demand, prices and product availability in Ukraine?

Serhii Borysov, head of the chemical division and the DEFENDA brand of LNZ Group:

The crop protection market in Ukraine: will prices change and how will global trends affect it фото 1 LNZ GroupIn the 2026 season the overall level of crop protection product supply will be sufficient; a forecast price increase of 10-15% is expected, which is linked to logistics, the rising cost of raw materials, and the growth of the exchange rate. The post-patent product market will grow, producers are making more budget-friendly decisions for a lower price and high efficacy of these products. Special attention will also be focused on growth regulators, adjuvants, and water pH stabilisers.

What global trends in the field of crop protection products today most affect Ukraine?

Integration into the EU will make its adjustments in terms of the use of crop protection products in Ukraine. With the transition to European norms and permits for pesticide use, up to 65-70% of the products currently available on the market may disappear in Ukraine. This in turn will affect the yield and cost price of crops, as well as the spread of diseases and pests. Therefore, for the transition period a well-developed strategy for reviewing the crop protection product range will be needed.

Also, an important step in the development of agriculture is the development of biological products, the range of which will increase and occupy an appropriate niche in the crop protection system.

How does your company adapt to wartime conditions and economic instability? Are you planning to launch new products in 2026?

Under conditions of wartime and economic instability, the company fulfils and will fulfil all its obligations, regardless of the business entity. First of all, delivery, a convenient form of payment that is optimal for the client, agronomic support throughout the growing season, an individual approach to each client.

In the 2025 season, under cool weather conditions, herbicides with the SC formulation (suspension concentrate) proved their efficacy and stability in the working solution. In the DEFENDA brand line these are the products Novante, SC and Starlent, SC. Among the new products for 2026, one can note the biofungicide Velas, SC based on the synthesis of the fermentation product of the fungus Streptomyces kasugaensis for fighting bacterioses of agricultural crops.

A relevant expansion is fungicides from the SDHI carboxamide chemical group in a water-dispersible granule formulation — this is the fungicide Radical, WG and the fungicide with a combination of two active ingredients in the form of a suspension concentrate, Radical Neo, SC, for controlling leaf spots and rots.
