Practice proves that in zones of sufficient, though not stable, moistening, foreign breeding performs better in terms of yield potential compared with domestic breeding.
This was stated by the head of the Agro Department of LNZ Group, Oleksandr Khmeliuk, as part of the business event "Agronomist as CEO of the field" by WEAGRO and Activitis Education.
"Such genetics are less resistant to environmental conditions, to infection by diseases, pests, and require a more enhanced protection system, but the yield potential of foreign hybrids is higher," noted the specialist.
He also added that in the central region of Ukraine and further south, domestic breeding of cereals still predominates for the most part. As for corn and sunflower, it is better to choose foreign seed.
