Agricultural production is affected by several factors — above all the war, the climate and the moisture shortage, which cannot always be compensated by irrigation. The solution that will help offset the risks is changing the structure of sown areas.
This was reported by the head of the Agro Department of LNZ Group, Oleksandr Khmeliuk, during the agro-meeting by the WEAGRO service and Activitis Education "Agribusiness profitability: from strategic planning and diversification to Lean technologies".
"Reducing soybean plantings, and ultimately a complete abandonment of growing this crop and a switch to increasing the share of the structure of sown areas under crops that form a harvest in May-June, can help get out of the situation. Because July and August are becoming increasingly risky months for yield formation," noted Oleksandr Khmeliuk.
He added that according to observations in 2025, winter wheat after the previous crops of rapeseed and soybean had a yield 2.5 t higher than after sunflower. That is, thanks to crop rotation, risks can be offset.
