Weather swings led to the unstable carrying out of rapeseed growth regulation

The weather in autumn favoured the rapid growth and development of rapeseed. The issue of overgrown crops on some farms is primarily a consequence of the farmers' readiness or unreadiness to carry out growth-regulation measures.

Weather swings led to the unstable carrying out of rapeseed growth regulation фото 1 LNZ GroupThis was reported to AgroPortal.ua by the PhD in Agricultural Sciences, deputy director of the crop-protection development division of the DEFENDA brand of LNZ Group, Ihor Maliborskyi, during the "AGRO Champions. 10 years in agro" ceremony, where LNZ Group received the "Most dynamic growth on the crop protection market" award.

"In the autumn period we observed different focus of producers on the use of products for regulating plant growth. Those who applied growth regulators in time today have a normal situation in the fields." — Ihor Maliborskyi, deputy director of the crop-protection development division of the DEFENDA brand of LNZ Group.

The specialist notes that the situation of under-regulation of rapeseed was more characteristic of crops where emergence appeared fairly late. The temperature fluctuations were such that farmers had doubts: whether or not to carry out growth-regulation treatments, they were hoping for a decrease in temperatures.

"Playing at such swings led to farmers losing the opportunity to use the products, because all products have a temperature regime at which they can work effectively," explains Ihor Maliborskyi.
