The agro-industrial holding LNZ Group is opening a network of field trial sites called Mini-hub. During August – September, UNIVERSEED corn hybrids and DEFENDA crop protection technologies for sunflower, soybean and winter cereals will be demonstrated at 7 locations situated in different soil and climatic zones.
The intensive development of agriculture and significant fluctuations in crop prices force producers to pay even closer attention to costs per unit area. One way to optimize is to save on inputs, namely by using effective generic crop protection products and high-quality yet affordable seeds.
LNZ Group is a vertically integrated agro-industrial holding which, in addition to seed trading, specializes in growing grain and industrial crops on 80 thousand ha (the holding comprises 33 agricultural companies). So at one time it, too, was actively looking for ways to reduce production costs, and this is how two new brands appeared on the Ukrainian market: DEFENDA – high-quality generic pesticides (the portfolio includes 58 products: 26 herbicides, 9 fungicides, 10 insecticides, 8 seed treatments, as well as a growth regulator, adjuvants and a desiccant) and UNIVERSEED – high-quality corn seeds developed by independent breeders and breeding companies from Canada and the USA. The portfolio already includes 8 grain corn hybrids and 3 hybrids of Leafy and Leafy-Floury silage corn, unique for Ukraine.
To introduce Ukrainian agricultural producers to these products and showcase them, we have created a network of nationwide technology platforms called «Mini-hub» with locations in Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Odesa, Sumy and Ternopil regions.
At the Mini-hubs, visitors will be able to evaluate the performance of UNIVERSEED seeds and DEFENDA protection technologies in different soil and climatic zones. Leading LNZ agronomists will explain the specifics of using our products under production conditions at the following enterprises:
- Agroholding «Mriia/CFG», village of Smykivtsi, Ternopil district, Ternopil region;
- PSP «Novoselytsia», village of Novoselytsia, Popilnia district, Zhytomyr region;
- TOV AF «Viktoriia», village of Mykolaivka, Bilopillia district, Sumy region;
- FH «Maiak», village of Studena, Pishchanka district, Vinnytsia region;
- TOV «Ahrofirma Kornatskykh», village of Chausove Druhe, Pervomaisk district, Mykolaiv region;
- TOV «Molodizhne», village of Molodizhne, Mykhailivka district, Zaporizhzhia region;
- FH «Donchuk», village of Pishchane, Balta district, Odesa region.
You may ask: «What is so unusual about what LNZ is offering?».
Firstly, the Mini-hub includes a demonstration of technology based on DEFENDA brand products in production crops covering 3 hectares. Here, producers will be able to evaluate the performance of our products alongside the conventional technology used by the farms. We will tell you more about the sequence of preparing tank mixes of our mostly single-component products depending on the conditions of the year, the phytosanitary condition of the field and the characteristics of the variety or hybrid. In this way, you will be able to see ready-made DEFENDA protection systems in practice on the main crops (corn, sunflower, soybean and peas, and winter cereals), and also learn more about the specifics of production, quality assurance and application of our products.

Secondly, we will demonstrate how already registered UNIVERSEED grain and silage corn hybrids grow in Ukrainian conditions alongside new ones that are still undergoing trials and testing. You will be able to evaluate the productivity of the existing grain corn hybrids in the portfolio and the potential of new hybrids of this breeding for the specific conditions of individual regions. Also, if you are professionally engaged in livestock farming, at our Mini-hubs you will be able to see what Leafy and Leafy-Floury silage corn hybrids look like, how they develop and what productivity they deliver. Our visitors will learn more and see with their own eyes how these hybrids differ from conventional grain hybrids, in particular in their structure (morphological characteristics): height, the formation of leaf mass above the ear, the formation of stem tissues, the ratio of the digestible part of the plant to the effective part, ear formation and the structure of the kernels.
Thirdly, in addition to the specific day when we hold the Mini-hub, our fields are open throughout the season, and if desired, by prior arrangement with the regional manager, a producer can visit these crops and see their condition at a particular stage of the growing season.
Thus, the openness, accessibility and technological focus of our Mini-hubs help us to be closer to our partners, demonstrate our professionalism and ability to help solve their technological problems, and ensure well-founded economic efficiency of agricultural production.
So we invite you to visit the Mini-hubs in the regions, talk with our specialists and learn more about our products.
