Among the main mistakes when planting raspberry seedlings, the agronomist of the Tevitta brand Ihor Naumenko singled out the top-6 positions
The first mistake — an incorrectly chosen area. For ideal growing a maximally even surface without hills and dips is needed. The second mistake — an incorrect choice of planting material. It is recommended to carry out an analysis. If this is not possible, one needs to carry out at least a visual inspection for diseases and pests.
The third and most frequent mistake — unprepared soil. Raspberry loves rich organic soils. Organic matter needs to be applied 3-4 months before planting. During autumn planting it is recommended to apply phosphorus-potassium fertilisers so that the plant prepares for winter.
The fourth mistake — the choice of preceding crops. Raspberry, strawberry, dog rose and nightshades are not recommended as preceding crops.
The fifth mistake — an incorrect planting scheme. In the Tevitta brand's fields raspberry is planted with a row spacing of 3.5 m and 30 cm in the row for convenient spraying and treatment of the plant.The last mistake — the absence of irrigation.
